Ah, the reboot/prequel of Xmen: First Class was awesome. It really was what the series needed after Last Stand: an actual origin story that I felt the first X men tried to do. but after the film, I wonder where it could head next in the series and now I have my answer.
Speaking to Ign, Producer Bryan Singer announced that the next X men movie will be titled X-Men: Days of Future Past.
For the uninformed, Days of future Past is one of the major story arcs in the X men universe in which an older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria. The story line has been in most X men media including the X men Animated Series and Wolverine and The X men series (in which it part of their first season and Prof. X took Pryde’s place.).
Singer also went on to say that he wouldn’t mind bridging together The First Class films with the original X men films. He said
I think there’s a strong desire to broaden out the universe. The X-Men universe on its own is every bit as big as the Marvel universe and I think it’s time to reach out and explore it and perhaps even bring some connectivity between the films, as Marvel’s done so well. You may see some of that, I don’t know. [Laughs]
So far, the movie is being written by X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: First Class scribe Simon Kinberg and yes, it will be Matthew Vaughn directing again.
