THE BULK of SDCC news!

Unless you have been under a rock or just don’t care, Comic Con was last week. For the uninitiated, The San Diego Comic Con (or SDCC) is a four-day event held in San Diego, California from Thursday to Sunday covering genre TV shows, movies, video games and of course comics. If you want to know the skinny on the geeky things you will checking out in the fall, you go to that Con — if you got your tickets early as this years SDCC was sold out in a matter of hours.

Now, don’t go looking for the news now as this blog post will cover all the big stuff that was announced. not only that, I will link to most of the Panels that went down that I can find. If anyone wants to help out, comment and I will give credit where credit is due.

– High Moon Studios, the guys behind the string of GOOD Transformer Games (i.e. the ones not connected to the movies) have announced Dead Pool, a game that follows “The Merc with a mouth”. From the trailer they showed, it looks like it’s following the spirit of the comics (breaking 4th wall and all). Dead Pool himself will be voiced by Nolan North–for anyone that knows who that it is, this good–who has voiced the psychopath since his appearance in the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games. No date is known but you can pre-order the game from the site.

– Something I am going to bring up on the show, the titled character upcoming Disney Movie “Wreck it Ralph”, will be in the also upcoming Sonic Racing Transformed as a playable racer. This makes since because in the movie, Ralph hops around different games after being sick of being the villain in his own game. The first Sonic Racing is a pretty cool alternative to Mario Kart and this something on my list. Also Ralph-related, Disney has made classic arcade cabinets of the game Ralph runs from. Look at Disney doing it right.

– Two more fighters were announced for PlayStation Smash Bros…er All-Stars Battle Royale. Jak and Daxter from the franchise of the same name and Cole MacGrath from the Infamous series are playable characters in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. This brings the total number of fighters so far to 13 with the game coming out Oct. 23rd of this year.

– Look, we all knew this was coming: Marvel and Disney will finally do a cross-over with their respective properties with Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel. The Special episode will have “already familiar to mainstream audiences as Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk find themselves transported to the series’ Danville setting where they have to team up with the eponymous Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher to not only find their way home, but also defend the town against the likes of Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and MODOK.” This will be out next year.

– Some to entice you (or not) to pick up the newly announced Marvel Cinematic universe DVD collection: A short film called Item 47 was screened at comic-con. It takes place after The Avengers and it follow “a not-so-ethical young couple who recovers one of the lost alien weapons and figure out how to make it work. Then, of course, they have to figure out what to do with it — and their solution is a life of crime. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are assigned the task of stopping them and getting the weapon back.” it will be included in the collection and the blu-ray version of The Avengers.

– Speaking of the Marvel Cinematic universe, Phase Two’s Movie Titles have been revealed with their dates — Captain America: The Winter Solider will be the first film out the gate with a April 4th, 2013 release; Iron Man 3 will follow on May 3rd; Guardians of the Galaxy (ROCKET RACOON!) will be out August 1st, 2014 and lastly Thor: The Dark World will end Phase Two (maybe) November 8th. Damn you Marvel. Around the same annoucement, Marvel showed off footage of Ant-Man which is directed by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World).

– DSR’s favorite show, The Legend of Korra, was revealed to get an order for 52 episodes allowing for all the books to be covered. Speaking of books, the next book will be titled “Spirit” and it will take place 6 months after the events of Air. “Spirit” is going to delve deeper into the spirit world mythology of the Avatar world, and expand on the origin of the Avatar itself.

Jessica Biel will be cast in her second Marvel, The Wolverine, as Viper. Viper is a professional terrorist and has her own organization. She has come into conflict with many superheroes and supervillains over the years. her relationship with Wolverine is…interesting to say the least. The Wolverine will be out July 26th, 2013.

Apparently that was a rumor. No clue who Viper will be.

– Just like I reveled on our facebook page, Teen Titans Go! will be a comedic spin-off of Teen Titans. As reveled by Producers Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath, this “basically takes those core characters. We’re going to have the same voice cast, the same characterization as the original Teen Titans and we’re putting them in new situations, primarily comedic situations. There’s almost zero fighting. If they are fighting, they’re fighting over stuff like who gets to make a sandwich. They use their powers, but they use them primarily in a comedic way. And also Robin is kind of made the fool in this series. He’s the only guy who doesn’t have superpowers, so that’s a big insecurity for him.”

– Speaking of Animated DC stuff, the upcoming “Beware The Batman” will not include The Dark Knight’s better half, The Joker, Penguin, or Riddler. The Producers have said that it also plans on going back to Bat’s roots as a detective (he was that before everything else happen) and not just the fist. They will be pulling other villains from the DC universe, both well known and not well known. And yes, it’s still in CGI.

– The upcoming “The Hobbit” will be split into two films. The First is The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and the second part will be The Hobbit: There and Back Again. Both were film back to back, with Unexpected Journey coming out December 14th 2012 and There and Back Again coming out December 13th 2013.

I think that covers everything worth. If I missed anything, let me know ( or is your best bet). I will have the panel videos as soon as I get them. If you want to help out, the same goes for the post.
