The Hotel of Your Dreams…if you like reading, anyway. (NSFW)

Now, let it be said that I’m a huge smut fan, of most varieties. So bear with me through this if I’ve already hooked your attention. Needless to way, this article is for those 18+.

This page should be able to define most of the words I use in this article.

While I have my preferences, I don’t really believe in judging the preferences of others’, especially when the more dangerous ones are simply being watched/read. In case you’ve no clue what I’m talking about, I’m referring to Hentai animu and mango (anime and manga), as well as written fanfiction for various kinks, hidden desires, secret interests, etc. Today, I’m using this article to focus on an excellent outlet for those things.

Hentai content has become more and more popular in America over the years while riding the tide of those advocating the porn industry (not-animated), a way to enjoy the sexual kinks that you may have or may be interested in without having to feel guilty about watching people do those things IRL. Hentai is available in almost every familiar form nowadays: Doujin (linked is quite an interesting comic), fanfiction (a bit of shameless advertising here), plotted anime series (with plots!), and even novelized manga, aside from the usual, download-or-buy-the-DVD stuff.

From this niche has risen another–written smut/porn has become more and more accepted as the years go by, and you can tell simply by going to your local bookstore and looking at the book section. For those of us with a hard-on for anime, manga, and generally animated things, the equivalent would be fanfiction (in some form or another). The demographic of writers for fanfiction is mostly women, but every once in a while the male writers emerge to say hello. While Fanfiction.net has carried the mantle for most popular fanfiction archive since about 2002, despite remaining the largest their regulations (mostly that nothing rated R and above is allowed on the site) have driven people to form or join other sites to both post/archive/read the works that they like – some of them are general, like Archive of our Own (Ao3) and some of our very own WordPresses; others are for specific fandoms, such as Phoenix Wright (vidya game) and Harry Potter. Other blogs like LiveJournal and Blogger are also used as personal archives/communities for fanfiction. Hell, if you’re good enough you can publish your own stuff.

For those of you who are just in it for fun, though, there’s a less obligatory way to read/write your favorite characters in your most desired situations–roleplaying. An activity inspired mostly by the old-time Dungeons & Dragons Era, this more concise version simply requires you to record any necessary information about the character you want to play (sometimes, depending on where it is, that’s optional) and then post with other people who play characters from the same fandom. A recent and rising term in popularity for this activity is called a Dressing Room, so named because you’re essentially “dressing” as your favorite characters to play them. Of course, these types of roleplays can be done with original characters as well.

Now I have a lot of experience with roleplaying (seven years), a lot of fanfiction experience (eleven years) and a lot of experience writing smut (about the same number). So it’s great for me when I find a way to combine them all together!

So here I am, presenting The_Love_Hotel, a dressing room on Livejournal with a setting specifically for you to have your favorite character (original or otherwise) get it on with other characters. To quote from their user page:

You wake alone in a room, on a large bed with silk sheets and a plush comforter. The walls are painted red and decorated with some… interesting paintings on the wall and plenty of mirrors to spare (even on the ceiling, yes). You are in a love hotel, a place designed for base desires to be acted on. Relax, let yourself be swept away with the pleasant aroma in the air, drink and eat for free, live here for free… the only requirement is you give in to any urges that may arise.

The hotel will help, if you need it. That pleasant aroma, that strange spice in the food, the slight flavor to the water? It’s an aphrodisiac that varies in strength all the time.

There are endless rooms in the hotel, movie theaters, restaurants, clothing shops, a park outside, pools, and anything else you could ever want… except an exit, of course.

The employees of the hotel are like drones, mindlessly serving you, indulging you in whatever you could want, so feel free to indulge.

And there you have it! Featuring their own list of settings, challenges and events, you can pick and choose what escapades your character participates in. Being locked outside of your Hotel room, suffering from Permarouse, being attacked by Possessed Objects are just a few of the traps the Hotel will be seeking to play on you. And don’t forget about the seductive Aphrodisiac in the air, you know, the one that can increase in concentration and target you specifically?

You’ll see characters from all walks of life, from Star Trek to Supernatural to D-Gray Man to Beetlejuice (yes, seriously). Nothing is barred. All potential crossovers allowed, even if they don’t quite make sense. All kinks accepted. All sexual orientations accepted (yes, even futanari). There’s even a tag for tentacle monsters if you’re bold enough to go look!

Not (wo)man enough to participate? They welcome lurkers as well. You can take your time and sit back and read and see how it’s done! The rule of tolerance, here, however, is to ignore what you don’t like–no whining or bawwing here, folks. Sorry. Not everyone is into the same thing, and when two people that do find each other, it’s not your turn to judge!

The community is very nice, the mods very helpful and useful, and the creative events that they offer nearly every week are very engaging for your character. And best of all, there’s minimal commitment! It’s nice if you would finish the threads you start, but if you suddenly get tired, you’re never required to continue RPing with the same character–you can switch or retire them or create new ones at will!

Not the type for all and out shagging on the carpet? That’s fine, too. You can request CR (casual roleplay) of the non-sexual variety! This community offers everything, and I guarantee that once you get into the swing of things, you’ll be having fun posting (or responding) in no time. Male as well as female writers AND characters frequent the site.

Tell you what–I love-love-love roleplaying there; if you join and are a little nervous, I have no problem helping you by giving you a little push: helios_et_luna is my username for that community, and I would be glad to RP with you ^_^

For those of you into this sort of thing, see you there. ♥
