E3 Run Down So Far

Okay, I know; I wasn’t going to cover E3 and technically I’m not covering E3. This is just a rundown on the show’s Press Conferences that were held by Sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft AND to some extent, Konami (they air something on G4 that was like a pre-E3 thing). Not this is not a full-blown new spot of E3, just a run down of what’s happening so far.

Microsoft hit off yesterday’s slew of Press Cons by showing off Modern Warfare 3, the actual sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, in a campain that goes back to doing a story for once. No Multi-player  was shown (I think). But the bulk of their talk-about was more on Kinect, their answer to motion control, and how that didn’t forget about the ‘core players with demos of Mass Effect 3, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, and a few others using Kinect. Two main big things as well happen as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, a remastered version of the first Halo game for the Original Xbox, was formally announced after being rumored for the longest along with Halo 4 both of  which are being made by 343 Industries as Bungie move on to new things.

Sony held their Con later on that evening with a apology by Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton, which was straight to the point and no jokes but after that, the real show began. Naughty dog showed off Uncharted 3 stuff including a demo, and Sony showed off a 3D Gaming ready TV that comes with a pair of 3D glasses, cable AND a copy of Resistance 3 (which was also showed off) for the low price of $499. The main talk was Sony’s NGP which was now formally called the Sony Vita(rhymes with Pita) with what could be a fighter for the Nintendo’s 3DS with not only having some very good looking visuals, games that people would want to play but also the price point for the Wifi only model at $249 and 3G (by At&T)/Wi-fi model for $299.

Ubisoft showed off Rayman: Origins, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Driver: San Fransisco, The Adventure of Tin-Tin: The Game, Far Cry 3, Rocksmith, and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 (which is being made with Gearbox Studio’s who also made Duke Nukem Forever).

EA showed off Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 (which has free multi-player, a nudge to COD: Elite Service), Need for Speed: The Run, Overstrike (which is awesome and I want), the MMO Star Wars: The old Republic, SSX (which uses GPS mapping for all the mountains), FIFA 12 and Madden 12.

AND Finally for the Run down, Konami showed off all their stuff in a Pre-E3 show that had showed some new stuff for Silent Hill: Downpour, the Sony Vita title Silent Hill: the book of memories, and Silent Hill HD collection which has Silent Hill 2 and 3 in 1080p beauty, the new title Neverdead, Metal Gear Solid HD collection which includes MGS Peacewalker (which was a PSP title), MGS 1 and MGS 2 (to which I heard you can play on the PSP AND PS3 with the same save file for Gaming on the Go), Metal Gear Solid Rising, and Zone of Enders HD Collection. The HD collections will be out for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Nintendo will have a press Conference around 12pm Eastern/9am PT today (as this post is on June 7th) so I will have a run down of that later on today. Expect a post from me about the winners and losers of the show as a whole maybe Friday or Saturday.

EDIT!: So, I didn’t want to make another post about the Nintendo Press. Nintendo, the last of the big 3 showed that they also didn’t forget about their core gamers by showing some fan favorites such as Mario Kart, Super Mario World, Kid Icarus, Uprising,Star Fox 64 3D and Luigi’s Mansion 2, all coming out for the 3DS soon. But the main talk was Nintendo’s new console (I think…) or mainly their controller for the new console which was only know as Project Cafe now formally titled “Wii U”. There were no games to be shown for the console but the likes of people that worked on Ninja Gaiden 3, Bioshock, and Fable siad that they were excited to work on something for Nintendo for the device. They also said that a Super Smash Bros. game would be made for not only the Wii U but also the 3DS with some type of connection with the two.

FRIDAY(hopefully) I will have my list of who I thought won this E3 battle ground and who was crying like a BITCH.

And as always you can follow me and D Saint Radio on twitter. Also, “like” us on Facebook as well. We’re lonely.
