Another One Bites The dust: Tokyopop in N.America is no more

I really need to stop writing sad news in the morning. It does not do the body and soul well, doing that. Either way, news is news I suppose.

Japanator reports that Tokyopop, who brought titles such as Love Hina and Chibi Vampire state side, will close it’s Los Angeles office on May 31st of this year. While the North American Branch is done with, they will still operate  at their Germany Base for “global acquisition, publishing, and distribution” and their film branch will still remain open.

Slowly but surely, most of the North American Manga/Anime Publishers are poofing out. As you may had heard as well that 4Kids is having a little bit of trouble as of late and ADV had “died” back in 2009, giving most of their anime/manga licences to Funimation and others through out. Who knows what else might happen…
