Mortal Kombat: Legacy Episode 1 is out!

Last Summer, the internet was treated to a video that showed a new approach to a video game franchise by the name of Mortal Kombat. It was unknown at the time of it’s origins or it’s purpose: Was it a teaser for the new Mortal Kombat Game that was coming out or was it a teaser for a new Mortal Kombat Movie? After the whole video Internet melt down, it was found out that the video was made by Director Kevin Tancharoen (who did the Fame film) who wanted to show Warner Bros, who have the rights to the film, what he could do if he was to do a movie. Fan out cry of it and the racking video views for it didn’t get him the greenlight to do a feature film but Warner Bros. did sign off on a web series set in the same world as Tancharoen had create all on a modest budget and shit load of favors. So what was the result? Like I said, a web series. A web series that started today in fact.  Which you can check out after the break:

Now Titled Mortal Kombat: Legacy, the 9-part episodes aim to give back story as to why these people are here and why they are fighting. In a interview with Screen Rant (which you can read the rest of it here) Tancharoen said that he will still keep the mystical elements of the MK univerise in tact but show it in a “non-cheesy way” and that even though the first episode does take place in the real world, other episodes that explores the other characters won’t always. He also touched on that even though this isn’t a film now that could change, if the series does well. So, would like to see a MK movie set up the same way he did this? Sound Off on the comments.
